Dubai: UAE residents were greeted with unusual weather this morning as dense fog in parts of Al Ain and light rain swept through parts of Abu Dhabi. The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued a fog alert, warning of poor horizontal visibility that could worsen in certain areas until 9 am this morning.

Significant fog was reported along Al Taf Road, stretching from the Sweihan roundabout to Al Sad Bridge, while light rain was observed in Al Khazna, Al Ain, and parts of the Al Dhafra region, including Um Layla and Al Ruwais. Additionally, light to moderate rain fell over the West of Mshayrif in Abu Dhabi.

Motorists have been urged to drive cautiously due to low visibility and slippery road conditions caused by both the fog and rainfall.

The NCM’s forecast for the rest of the day predicts partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with occasional dust, light rain in some western and island areas, and a significant drop in temperatures. Internal regions may see highs between 32-37°C, while coastal areas will remain cooler, with temperatures ranging from 26-31°C, and mountain areas between 23-28°C.

The NCM also forecasts light to moderate winds, which may pick up in intensity, reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h, particularly over the sea. Winds will also cause blowing dust and sand across land during the daytime. The sea is expected to be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf, and conditions in the Oman Sea will gradually worsen by nightfall.
