NCM warns of potential rain, strong winds and scorching heat
Dubai: Residents across the UAE are being urged to take precautions as dangerously high temperatures persist, particularly in Abu Dhabi and the country’s interior regions.
According to AccuWeather, Dubai will experience very warm conditions today, with intervals of cloud and sunshine pushing the mercury to a high of 42°C. Tonight, skies will clear but remain extremely warm, with temperatures dipping only to 35°C.
In Abu Dhabi, conditions are even more severe. The capital is facing intensifying cloud cover and extreme heat, with temperatures soaring to 45°C during the day. The heat is categorized as very dangerous, prompting authorities to advise residents to stay indoors. Overnight temperatures are expected to remain high, settling at around 34°C with partly cloudy skies.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reports that today’s weather across the UAE will be fair to partly cloudy, with a chance of convective cloud formation—particularly in eastern areas by the afternoon. These clouds may be accompanied by rainfall.
Maximum temperatures in the interior regions are forecast to range between 44°C and 49°C, while coastal areas and islands will see highs of 40°C to 45°C. Over mountainous areas, temperatures are expected to reach 34°C to 39°C.
The highest temperature recorded in the UAE on Monday was 48.7°C, measured at Mezaira in Al Dhafra at 3pm, highlighting the extreme heat currently affecting the region.
Winds will be light to moderate, occasionally freshening during the day at 10–25 km/h, with gusts reaching 40 km/h, potentially kicking up blowing dust in exposed areas. Sea conditions remain calm, with slight waves in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
