NCM warns of reduced visibility, motorists advised to drive cautiously
Dubai: UAE residents, particularly people with dust allergies, are advised to stay indoors this afternoon due to a dust storm in Abu Dhabi. Late Thursday afternoon, there was a sudden change in the weather, and by 1pm, strong winds had caused dust storms. This has significantly reduced visibility on many roads, impacting motorists and pedestrians. For individuals suffering from dust allergies, it is advised to remain indoors.
According to the recent weather update from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), fresh northwesterly winds are sweeping across the region, stirring up clouds of dust and sand. This phenomenon has significantly reduced horizontal visibility in several internal and coastal areas. Residents should be mindful of these conditions, which are expected to persist until 6pm.
Abu Dhabi Police have advised drivers to exercise caution on the roads, as dusty conditions hinder visibility. In a social media post, they urged residents to refrain from using their phones and taking videos of the weather while driving.
In coastal areas today, brace for temperatures soaring to 45°C, accompanied by high humidity that will make it feel oppressive during the day.
