Drivers cautioned as visibility dips across key regions until 9am on Saturday
Dubai: Residents across parts of Abu Dhabi and Al Dhafra regions were met with dense fog this morning, as the UAE's National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued red and yellow weather alerts. The alerts, which highlight the risk of severe fog formation, warn of significantly reduced visibility in certain areas, potentially dropping even further at times until 9 AM on Saturday, March 29.
The NCM's alert specifically affects areas in the Al Dhafra region, including Al Ruwais, Ghayathi Road, Bu Hamrah, Owtaid, Bu Hasa, and Hamim, as well as parts of Abu Dhabi such as Al Wathba, Al Ain – Abu Dhabi Road, Al Ajban, Al Khatim, and Al Faya. Motorists in these regions are urged to exercise caution, reduce speed, and stay vigilant due to the challenging driving conditions.
In terms of the broader forecast, the NCM predicts mostly clear skies throughout the day, with occasional clouds expected to develop in the east by the afternoon, especially over mountainous areas. Maximum temperatures will range from 31 to 35°C in the interior regions, while coastal areas and islands will see highs between 27 and 32°C. The mountain regions will experience milder temperatures, ranging from 21 to 26°C.
As the night progresses, humidity is expected to rise, with a likelihood of fog or mist forming over certain western coastal and inland areas early on Sunday morning. Light to moderate winds are anticipated, with the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea remaining relatively calm.
