Prepare for soaring temperatures, dust storms, and rough waters in the Arabian Gulf
Dubai: The UAE is bracing for extreme heat, dust storms, and rough seas this weekend, with temperatures expected to soar and strong winds kicking up dust across the country.
This afternoon, the mercury hit 46.6°C in both Um Azimul (Al Al) and Umm Al Gaf (Ras Al Khaimah), marking one of the hottest days of the year so far. Winds are set to get even stronger, causing blowing dust and reducing visibility, especially along open roads.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) is warning of moderate to fresh winds through Sunday, which could make outdoor activities dangerous and drive visibility down in some areas.
The Arabian Gulf will experience rough seas, particularly in the west, while the Oman Sea will remain mild but may become rough later tonight.
Looking ahead, tomorrow’s weather will be fair to partly cloudy with dusty spells. Expect high humidity at night and possible fog by early Monday morning.
Moderate Northwesterly winds could gust up to 40 km/h, causing dust and reducing visibility.
Rough seas in the Arabian Gulf and slight but potentially rough conditions in the Oman Sea.
· Driving: Slow down and use fog lights when visibility is poor.
· Outdoor activities: Avoid the heat during the hottest parts of the day, and stay inside if possible.
· Water sports: Avoid the sea as rough waves could be dangerous.
· Stay hydrated: Keep drinking water and check weather updates regularly.
Stay safe and be prepared for a tough weekend of heat and dust!
