Dubai: While most of the UAE sizzled under the summer sun, showers fell over parts of Al Ain this afternoon, offering brief respite from the soaring temperatures. A video shared by Instagram account @storm_ae captured the rainfall sweeping across the city, surprising residents amid the scorching heat.

Despite the rain, Sweihan in Al Ain recorded the country’s highest temperature at a scorching 47.4°C at 3pm today, according to data from the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).

The NCM issued a weather alert for convective cloud formation, warning of possible rainfall over parts of Al Ain and Fujairah until 8pm tonight. These types of clouds are often associated with sudden bursts of rain.

Tomorrow's forecast: More clouds, chance of rain

The NCM predicts fair to partly cloudy weather for Sunday, with a chance of convective clouds forming by afternoon in eastern and southern regions, which may bring more rainfall.

Winds will range from light to moderate, blowing Southeasterly to Northeasterly at speeds of 10 to 25 km/h, gusting up to 40 km/h, potentially causing blowing dust in exposed areas.

The sea conditions are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.
