The 34th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) is underway, celebrating iconic figures and cultural legacies under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and running from April 26 to May 5, at the ADNEC Centre, this year’s fair highlights renowned polymath Ibn Sina, the timeless tale of One Thousand and One Nights, and Caribbean culture as the Guest of Honour.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), the fair is themed ‘Knowledge Illuminates Our Community’ and features 1,400 exhibitors from 96 countries. With over 2,000 activities, the event offers diverse programming for readers, thinkers, publishers, and content creators.

The cultural and literary activities cover five key themes: society, fantasy, sustainability, Arab sciences, and AI & Innovation.

This year’s Focus Personality, Ibn Sina, marks the 1,000th anniversary of his groundbreaking medical work, The Canon of Medicine. A cornerstone in the history of medicine, Ibn Sina’s contributions will be commemorated through panel discussions and interactive exhibits, showcasing his lasting impact on science and philosophy.
