Cairo: Emirati volunteers helped alleviate the suffering of heart patients in Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Egypt by participating in the Zayed Giving Initiative.
Noura Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Women’s Union, which is participating in the volunteers programme, said that Emirati volunteers are always the first to offer their services in the field of voluntary work, the foundations of which were set by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Dr Fatima Al Ameri, Cultural Attaché at the UAE Embassy in Egypt, said that the volunteers have organised a programme for heart patients that coincided with the humanitarian tasks carried out by the Emirati-Egyptian-French work teams who are carrying out heart surgeries for needy patients.
The volunteers are participating as part of the UAE’s Volunteer Ambassadors programme and the Million Volunteers campaign launched by Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.
Noura praised the efforts of the Emirati youth who presented fine models as Zayed sons and daughters through their participation in the field of voluntary and humanitarian work in the local and global stage.
