Both judges previously competed as members of the Dubai Police Women's Team
Dubai: The opening day of the UAE SWAT Challenge 2025 saw an inspiring display of leadership and expertise as two Emirati judges, First Lieutenant Afra Hareb Al Nuaimi and First Sergeant Fatima Mohammed Bandari, took center stage. As part of the officiating team for this globally recognised tactical competition, they played a pivotal role in ensuring fairness and precision in the high-stakes ‘Assault’ event.
From competitors to judges
Both Al Nuaimi and Bandari bring extensive experience to their new roles, having previously competed as members of the Dubai Police Women's Team in past editions of the UAE SWAT Challenge. Their transition from competitors to judges highlights their deep understanding of the rigorous demands of the competition.
To prepare for their judging responsibilities, the duo underwent extensive training, including specialized workshops on regulations, penalty systems, and safety protocols. Their meticulous preparation enabled them to effectively oversee the first event of the challenge, earning commendation from fellow judges and participants alike.
Role of great responsibility
As judges, Al Nuaimi and Bandari recognize the significance of their duties, which extend beyond scoring performances. Ensuring the safety and security of all participants, especially in an event that involves firearms and tactical gear, remains a top priority. They are also tasked with preparing the competition field before each round, maintaining a seamless and secure environment.
Reflecting on their first day as judges, they expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from participants and spectators. Their presence has been met with enthusiasm, particularly as they represent Emirati women in a field traditionally dominated by men.
Preparing for success
During the lead-up to the competition, Al Nuaimi and Bandari played an active role in the technical committee for judges. They facilitated workshops to educate participating teams on competition rules and supervised training sessions to ensure adherence to regulations.
They extended their appreciation to Dubai Police for the trust and opportunities provided to them, emphasizing how this platform empowers Emirati women to excel on an international stage. Their contributions reinforce the UAE’s commitment to gender inclusivity and excellence in tactical sports.
As the UAE SWAT Challenge 2025 unfolds, Al Nuaimi and Bandari’s presence serves as a testament to the growing influence of Emirati women in law enforcement and global competitions, inspiring future generations to break barriers and lead with distinction.
