Dubai: A minor earthquake was recorded in Masafi, a small settlement in the north eastern mountainous region of the UAE, the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) said on Monday.

The 2.8 magnitude quake, measured on the Richter scale, was recorded at 11:03pm at a depth of 3km, the NCM tweeted.

While the earthquake was felt by the residents in the region, it had no impact in the UAE.

The National Center of Meteorology has been actively monitoring seismic activity in the UAE to provide early warnings and ensure the safety of the people.
