Dubai: The Jebel Jais Sledder, Ras Al Khaimah’s ride down the Hajar Mountains, has been "temporarily closed".

“Please note that the Jais Sledder is currently closed, and we thank you for your understanding and patience,” read the official website of Visit Jebel Jais on Thursday night.

“Yes, it has been closed, but this is only a temporary closure. It will reopen,” a call centre executive at Jais Adventure Park said.

Asked about the reason for the closure and when it would reopen, the executive noted: “We don’t know the exact date of reopening, but it will be updated on the official website.”

The sledder, the region’s highest and longest toboggan ride, is an eight-minute ride along a low-slung track and can reach speeds of up to 40km/h. The two-seater sled offers riders a panoramic view of the coastline as it hurtles down the mountain, navigating sharp turns.

“Once reopened, visitors can book tickets at the counter,” the executive said.

Meanwhile, all other rides and attractions, including the Jais Flight – the world’s longest zipline – are operating as usual.

“Yes, all other rides are available. Visitors can book tickets online. Only tickets for the sledder are sold at the counter,” the executive clarified.
