Triplet joy for Palestinian couple in Fujairah
Fujairah: A Palestinian couple are celebrating the safe delivery of two baby girls and a boy, although the premature babies will remain under close care for some time to come.
The babies were delivered after just 31 weeks of pregnancy by Caesarean section at Fujairah's new Obstetrics and Gynaecology Hospital on Monday evening.
After an hour-long operation, the babies were safely delivered just before 6pm weighing in at 1.30kg, 1.23kg for the girls and 1.37kg for the boy.
Thirty three year-old Samah Adel Abu Lubdah, the mother of the babies, was said to be in a healthy condition.
Proud father, Feras Nezal, told Gulf News he was relieved and overjoyed at the births of the babies, and more importantly, he said, the safety of their mother.
The birth of the triplets comes just 10 months after Samah tragically miscarried.
Feras recalls how he first realised they were expecting three babies - it was at the third visit to the doctor.
"At the start of the pregnancy the doctor said we should expect just the one baby, at the second visit she said there were in fact two and after a month at the third visit she told us there were actually three, so at that point I jokingly told the doctor I'm not coming back for a fourth time".
Doctor Luma Ebrahim, who delivered the babies told Gulf News the delivery went to plan without any complications.
