Dubai: Fancy using your date of birth, wedding day or any special day for your car number plate? If you have trouble memorising your number plate, this might be the answer.
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will allow more motorists to personalise their number plates beginning Wednesday (May 2) for a new phase of its ‘Your Memorable Moments on Your Vehicle’s Plate’ initiative for V-Coded plates.
The first phase of the initiative was launched last year for S-coded plates and drivers born from 1981 to 1998.
This time, clients will have the opportunity to choose five-digit vehicle plates bearing codes that resemble important dates and events in their lives such as birthday, employment day, wedding day, and graduation day, among others.
The available numbers relate to the period from 1967 to 2018.
Sultan Al Marzouqi, Director of Vehicles’ Licensing at RTA’s Licensing Agency, said: “The V-Coded number plates will be issued, as available, bearing dates from 1967 to 2018. The total cost of the plate is Dh1,670. Customers can source their number plates directly from Customer Happiness Centres all over Dubai, service providers, strategic partners, RTA website (www.rta.ae) or the smart app ‘Dubai Drive’.
“Launching this phase, of ‘Your Memorable Moments on Your Vehicle’s Plate’ initiative, follows the remarkable response generated by previous Codes. The initiative reflects the core role of the RTA in providing new and premium services to raise customers’ satisfaction and happiness through engaging them in selecting personalised and important numbers for their vehicle plates,” he said.
Owners with existing number plates may choose to acquire these special plates and have them registered with their car. They will be asked to return the old plate to RTA.
How to avail:
1) Log in to your RTA Account.
2) Search for your desired ‘Special Moments Plate Number’.
3) Check availability from the list.
4) Pay the fee and get the special plate number.
