Police launch smart system for vehicles to ease traffic procedures
Ras Al Khaimah: Starting from January 20, vehicles that have been slated for the impoundment yard can instead be kept in their owner’s custody in Ras Al Khaimah.
Police in the emirate, in cooperation with the General Resources Authority, on Tuesday announced the smart system for vehicles to facilitate traffic procedures.
The new option allows owners of violating vehicles to keep their vehicles at home with the assurance of electronic monitoring to ensure compliance with not moving them from the designated parking spot.
Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the service will be activated through traffic systems, allowing vehicle owners to choose a suitable location for parking their vehicles under their direct supervision, with a commitment to taking care of it throughout the period. He added that the new system helps alleviate pressure on the impoundment area and relies on advanced technologies to ensure compliance with laws of the Ministry of Interior.
Maj Gen Al Nuaimi clarified that the service allows motorists to take care of their violating vehicles and operate them periodically to maintain their safety from the damages of long-term parking.
The service includes all types of vehicles and covers the majority of traffic violations.
