Sharjah: In a step toward improving the daily experiences of shoppers, Sharjah City Municipality has signed a cooperation agreement with City Centre Al Zahia to regulate the use of the mall’s parking spaces. The initiative, which officially launched this week, reflects the municipality’s ongoing efforts to partner with the private sector and uphold public order through clear regulations and effective enforcement.

Under the new agreement, the Municipality will oversee the proper use of the mall's parking facilities, carrying out regular inspections and addressing any misuse that may inconvenience visitors. The goal is simple: to ensure that parking is fair, efficient, and accessible to as many people as possible.

The signing ceremony took place at the Municipality’s headquarters, attended by Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah City Municipality, and Fuad Mansour Sharaf, Managing Director of UAE Shopping Malls at Majid Al Futtaim Properties, along with senior officials from both sides.

“This partnership is part of our broader commitment to enhancing cooperation with the private sector,” said Al Tunaiji. “By working together, we can deliver high-quality services, enforce public laws, and address negative behaviors. This agreement allows us to play a proactive role in making sure the City Centre Al Zahia parking spaces are used correctly and fairly.”

To that end, a dedicated municipal team will be stationed to receive feedback, monitor the parking area during mall hours, and respond swiftly to violations. These may include parking in spaces reserved for people of determination, occupying multiple spaces, or leaving vehicles overnight.

For mall visitors, the result should be a smoother, more enjoyable experience—from the moment they arrive.

Meanwhile, Sharaf affirmed that the agreement strengthens unified efforts and joint coordination, establishing a strategic partnership that serves the public interest. He noted that this initiative enhances the overall shopping experience by ensuring convenient access to parking, under the supervision of Sharjah City Municipality, while addressing violations such as misuse of spaces designated for people of determination, occupying multiple spots, parking in restricted areas, or leaving vehicles overnight.

He also commended the Municipality’s regulatory role, its dedication to law enforcement, and its proactive efforts to curb negative behaviors. Sharaf emphasized the value of continued collaboration to introduce new services that benefit both individuals and the wider community, ensuring mall visitors can enjoy their time with ease and organized access to parking.
