Sharjah: Transport officials have announced that a new bus route will launch on Tuesday. The route will cover Sharjah Airport to the Dubai Metro station in Al Rashidiya.

"We are launching this service on March 2 in order to benefit airport passengers who want to travel to Dubai. We conducted a comprehensive study to meet the demands of passengers, which was held in line in expanding the network of public transport," said Adel Khalil, Head of inner-city transport, at Sharjah Transport Corporation.

The fare costs Dh10 and the new service, Route 111, will start at Sharjah International Airport and then make a stop at Al Qusais Bus station (Sonapur), before reaching its final destination at the Al Rashidiya Metro Station.

The services will run from 5am to 10pm, and will have an interval of one hour.

The new bus service is provided by KGL Transport, which is currently responsible in providing buses for all the current routes operating in the city.

According to Khalil, the bus route back to Sharjah will be provided by the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai.

"Commuters in Dubai will now have the option of going to Sharjah Airport either from the metro station or from the bus station in Al Qusais," Khalil said.
