The upgrades are designed to improve visibility and make navigation easier
Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in collaboration with Keolis–MHI, has completed a comprehensive project to modernise wayfinding signage across all Dubai Metro stations.
The initiative, covering both the Red and Green Lines as well as Dubai Tram, aims to make commuting easier, smoother, and more enjoyable for daily passengers.
Hassan Al Mutawa, Director of Rail Operations at RTA’s Rail Agency, said the project reflects the authority’s strategy to continuously improve public transport services by assessing and upgrading wayfinding systems. “As part of this plan, around 9,000 wayfinding signs were installed and replaced, requiring approximately 11,000 workhours,” he said.
Al Mutawa noted that the improvements highlight RTA’s commitment to enhancing passenger satisfaction and making Dubai’s metro and tram network more accessible, reliable, and user-friendly.
The upgrade included enhanced entry and exit signage, with exits now marked in bright yellow boxes for greater visibility. New floor stickers and platform indicators were also introduced to help passengers locate the correct train lines quickly, reducing congestion and improving passenger flow inside stations.
To support proper behaviour on public transport, RTA added a series of stickers with etiquette messages across waiting areas and platforms. These reminders encourage respect for fellow commuters, contributing to a more comfortable journey.
Special attention was given to Women and Children Cabins and Gold Class Cabins. The previous floor markings were replaced with bold pink and gold boards clearly labelled to reduce unauthorised use and ensure the comfort of passengers in these designated areas.
For consistency across all communication channels, the updated guidance has been integrated into RTA’s smart applications, train and platform announcements, and social media platforms.
