Dubai: A motorist was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on Tuesday morning, Dubai Police Traffic Department said.
The crash took place at 5:30am on Shaikh Zayed Road in the Abu Dhabi direction near Seih Shuaib Bridge between three vehicles, Lieutenant Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Acting Director of the department, said.
The driver of the first car, a Pakistani, hit the second from the back, which resulted in his car overturning and landing outside the road, Lt Col Al Mazroui said.
This caused the driver of the third vehicle to hit the second car as well.
Lt Col Al Mazroui said the accident was caused by speeding and sudden swerving of the first vehicle, which resulted in severe injuries to the driver, who was airlifted to the hospital considering his critical condition.
The accident caused traffic congestion on the road until the affected vehicles were removed.
