Dubai: Five people were injured in four separate accidents on Monday and Tuesday.

Colonel Jamal Al Bannai, Acting Director of Dubai Traffic Police, said a five-car pile-up on Tuesday caused a tailback on Shaikh Zayed Road.

He said that the operations room received a call about the accident at 12.30pm. The accident took place after the Dubai World Trade Centre tunnel in the Sharjah direction. One person sustained injuries.

On Monday, a car crash took place at around 3.30pm on Al Ruwaiyyah bridge on the Emirates Road exit in the Abu Dhabi direction, he said.

A truck carrying a heavy load crashed into the metal barrier, which after preliminary investigation was found to have been caused by speeding. No one was injured but the truck, barrier and a signboard were badly damaged.

Later on Monday, the operations room received a call at 5.30pm about a serious accident on Qarn Al Sabkha Road, where a bus and a truck had collided. Four people were injured. One sustained severe injuries, two sustained moderate injuries and one sustained minor injuries.

The injured were airlifted to hospital.
