Dubai: The first number plates auction for vintage vehicles was a successful event as 63 distinguished numbers were sold for Dh1.82 million.

The sales topper was the plate number 13, which fetched Dh305,000, followed by 444 mumber, which was sold for Dh123,000, while the five-digit plate 99999 was auctioned for Dh90,000 and the 4-digit plate 5555 was given away for Dh85,000.

Mohammad Abdul Kareem Nimaat, Director of Vehicles Licensing at Licensing Agency of the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, said: “Holding the open number plate auction for classic vehicles is in line with our drive aimed at offering equal chances and transparency for clients. The auction helps motorists get number of their choice as there are considerable numbers of people who have classic vehicles and aspire [to have] distinguished plates.”
