Dubai: Starting December this year, commuters will enjoy free Wi-Fi service aboard vehicles run by Dubai Taxi Corporation, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Wednesday.
The vehicles will enable customers to use interactive LCD screens, where satisfaction surveys will be run, to help upgrade taxi services.
Dubai Taxi Corporation has already started fitting the touch screens, along with the Wi-Fi service, to its taxi fleet.
“Customers will also be able, for the first time, calculate taxi fares in advance,” RTA said in its tweet.
The touch screens will come handy for passengers to check out major tourist attractions in Dubai, as well as commercials about RTA’s services.
RTA said the introduction of LCD screens and free Wi-Fi service is “in line with Dubai Government’s strategy to rank Dubai as [the] smartest city worldwide.
