Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed traffic improvements at 10 school zones this summer, enhancing safety and access for 27 schools across the emirate.

The works cover Al Warqa 1, 3, and 4; Al Safa 1; Al Barsha 1; Al Garhoud; Al Mizhar 1 and 4; Al Qusais; and Al Barsha South.

Part of a wider traffic initiative

These school zone upgrades are part of a broader RTA project to improve traffic at 40 strategic locations across Dubai, including high-traffic corridors, development hubs, and key internal roads.

Scheduled to coincide with the summer break, the works were designed to minimise disruption while maintaining high safety standards.

Scope of the project

The initiative spans 22 main roads, nine school zones, five major development areas, and several internal road networks in districts including Tolerance District, Al Khawaneej 2, and Nad Al Sheba. Its goals are to boost traffic flow, reduce journey times, enhance road safety, and strengthen connectivity between residential areas, schools, and commercial hubs.

Earlier summer campaign

In June, RTA launched the comprehensive traffic improvement campaign across 40 locations, with works scheduled from June to September 2025.

Aimed to coincide with the summer holiday, the upgrades were implemented to minimise disruption for commuters while ensuring the highest safety standards.

Supporting Dubai’s growth

The initiative aligns with RTA’s broader strategy to support Dubai’s rapid urban growth and economic expansion by enhancing infrastructure, traffic flow, and road safety.

RTA reaffirmed its commitment to delivering world-class infrastructure that advances Dubai’s vision of becoming a smart, safe, and accessible city for all.
