Dubai: A surge in the last three years of hobby and commercial drone sales shows no signs of letting up in Dubai, says an exclusive seller.
From the least expensive hobby drone to the most expensive commercial drone, demand is steady in a market that is showing double-digit growth year on year, says Mohammad Fasil, business development manager with Dubai-based Aeromotus Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Trading.
“The smallest one is the Spark, you can control it simply with your hand movements,” Fasil said. It is the lowest priced drone selling for Dh1,999 and is used by hobbyists mostly for taking selfies at very low heights. “It weighs less than 500g.”
Commercial drone operators are an entirely different story both in purpose and in price, he said, with the firm’s most expensive industrial drone – the Matrice 600 Pro - and accompanying drone package running for a price tag at $35,698 combined.
Commercial drones, he said, are highly useful for companies and government agencies to conduct aerial and thermal inspections of almost anything.
