New 3,900sqm facility has seating capacity for 60 passengers, berths, parking lots

Abu Dhabi: A new ferry terminal has been inaugurated on Al Aliah Island in Abu Dhabi to improve connectivity for residents and visitors in the emirate.
The service from Al Aliah Ferry Terminal, linking the island to the rest of Abu Dhabi, will facilitate the movement of goods, residents, workers and visitors.
The 3,900sqm facility includes a ferry terminal with seating capacity for 60 passengers, 15-metre and 12.5-metre berths to support the loading and off-loading of roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) vessels, an 80sqm office building, seven parking lots, six truck parking spots, and crew accommodation.
The facility, which features modern amenities, has been opened by the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), an affiliate of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Maritime, part of AD Ports Group.
“This project reflects Abu Dhabi Mobility’s commitment to enhancing the maritime sector in the emirate in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Maritime, keeping pace with global smart transformations, and providing sustainable solutions that support the future of maritime transport,” said Dr Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, Acting Director-General of the Integrated Transport Centre.
Captain Saif Al Mheiri, Abu Dhabi Maritime CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer at AD Ports Group, described the opening of the terminal as “another milestone” following the inauguration of the Saadiyat Ferry Terminal last year.
“In line with our vision to develop a world-class, sustainable transportation network for Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Maritime has commissioned new, customised, modern ferries.”
This development demonstrates ongoing efforts in Abu Dhabi to enhance its maritime sector, keep pace with global advancements in smart and sustainable technologies, and provide infrastructure that contributes to shaping a sustainable maritime future for the emirate.
