Al Ain beat Al Nasr by a solitary goal scored by Jeol Tiehi to reach the semifinals of the President's Cup. They will now meet Al Shabab.

Tiehi's return to his old ground at Al Jazira Club was fruitful as he was leading the Al Jazira's striking force for three seasons before shifting to Al Ain at the end of this league season.

But although it was Tiehi who scored the all important goal in the eight minute of the second half, credit should be given to Ghareeb Harib for paving the way for the only goal of the match. Harib was outstanding in all departments. He was a thorn in the flesh of the Al Nasr defence with his impressive runs and fine crosses. The goal culminated when Harib crossed the ball following a fast counter-attack to Tiehi to head home.

Al Nasr dominated the match in the first few minutes of the first half. But Eissa Jamaa, Khoddadad Azizi and Tarig Al Tayib squandered the chances that came their way. As the match progressed, Al Ain took control of the match and started raiding the rival citadel time and again. Off one such counter-attacks, Harib watched in dismay as his fierce shot hit the crosspiece and sailed out with the goalkeeper beaten in the 19th minute. While Jamaa Moussa and Hilal Saeed also have had unsuccessful attempts at goal.

The result was a swam song for Sebastian Labolla, the Al Nasr's Brazilian coach. This was his last engagement with the club as he will be replaced by Czech Coach Milan Macalla. To his dismay, Al Nasr's most dynamic player Khoddad Azizi, was injured barely four minutes in the second half and had to be replaced by Mohammed Ibrahim.

Al Ain having taken the lead, retreated to their own half and did not allow room for Al Nasr to build any attacking moves. However, their forwards lost many sitters due to haste and lack of concentration. Defender Mohammed Khamis, twice advanced into the six yard area, but on both occasions failed to find the target. While Eissa Jumaa's header rebounded from the bar.

Salah Abbass, the Al Nasr's midfielder, was sent off, 14 minutes before the end for foul play and fighting with Sultan Rashid, who was only cautioned.

Al Nasr pressed forward in the last 15 minutes to equalise all their efforts went in vain.
