Motorists and car owners who used the car registration service - Tasjeel - during the Eid Al Adha holiday, hailed the police decision to make such a vital service available to the public during the holidays.
They urged other government departments to offer selective services outside normal working hours and during long holidays.
Tasjeel, a police-supervised vehicle registration and testing service rendered in select petrol pump stations in Dubai, has been a boon to motorists.
In a random interview, residents and expatriates here who use the EPPCO petrol station's value-added services expressed delight with the convenience offered by the one-stop-shop scheme.
Mahmood Akbar, a UAE national, is one of the many amazed and happy customers of Tasjeel, the Arabic for 'registration'.
"Mumtaz (excellent)... I can't ask for more," Akbar said tersely, as he gingerly drove into one of the eight test bays of the EPPCO station in Al Quoz.
Testing and inspection is the first step in renewing a car's registration. "This is e-government in action ... which means speed and convenience for the public," added the 23-year-old employee of the Dubai Immigration Department.
