Tarratt, Curnow-Varri emerge winners

Nick Tarratt (3)(UGA) and Trevor-Varri (7) (UGA) took the title in the seventh event in the Dubai World Trade Centre sponsored Jebel Ali Hotel and Golf Resort Summer Golf Series recently.

The 9 hole betterball format with full handicap played from the blue tees at 3174 yards par 36 attracted a full field of 18 pairings.

The winners scored a solid 22 Stableford points with Curnow-Varri personally achieving 19 points by himself.

Curnow-Varri received 3 handicap shots and scored 11 points on these 3 holes including gross birdies on holes 1 and 4 , the latter including the shot of the day, a 7 wood second shot on the 435 yard par 4 hole, playing into the 15 mph wind that hung in the stiff breeze and finished a mere 4 feet from the flag for a brilliant 3.

Tarratt receiving one shot contributed when Curnow-Varri was out of the picture with impressive up and downs on holes 2 and 5 to keep the team momentum.

The team won by one point from Mike Scott (16) and John Kerr (20). . None of the winners handicaps were adjusted despite Curnow-Varri winning his third consecutive Trade Centre title.

The eight of the golf day series will be held at Jebel Ali Hotel and Golf Resort on Wednesday 29th August with a 4.30 pm shotgun start with an individual Stableford format.
