Staff sent for English course

The American University of Sharjah has received the second batch of students from the Dubai Economic Development Department for its Intensive English Language course.

The American University of Sharjah has received the second batch of students from the Dubai Economic Development Department for its Intensive English Language course.

The course has been specially designed for professionals. The Dubai Economic Development Department has sent 15 employees for the course, which started on Saturday.

Some 12 employees of the department have already got certificates for successfully completing the course last week. The course is conducted by the Continuing Education Centre (CEC) at the AUS.

An AUS spokesman said, the course called "American English Conversation and Business English", has been designed for professionals who need to better English skills. They are taught along the American style, following the worldwide trends in education.

The CEC will launch its new Professional Certificate by mid-September which will address different fields including sales and marketing, accounting and finance, Internet and Intranet Computing, Information Technology and Programming, digital media production, and e-commerce.

This will help UAE nationals to enter the work force within a year. These students will be specialised and trained in one specific field, needed by the government or private sectors.
