This year's celebration of the 'Arab Child Day' will be dedicated to the memory of an 11-year-old Palestinian boy, whose picture shocked the world, says Sheikha Hala bint Duaij Al Khalifa, wife of Bahrain's Crown Prince Sheikh Salman.
In her statement, which was read in schools yesterday marking celebrations of the Day, Sheikha Hala said all Arab countries agreed that this year's celebrations will be dedicated to the memory of Mohammed Al Durra, whose picture lying dead between the arms of his helpless father after he was shot by Israeli soldiers two years ago, shocked people around the world.
She also called on Arab children to commemorate the occasion by expressing their true feelings and aspirations for a brighter future.
The President of the General Organisation for Youth and Sports, and Head of the National Childhood Committee, Sheikh Fawaz bin Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa announced that 250 students will take part in a workshop as part of the events marking the occasion.
