Sharjah: The delivery phase of the Al Majaz Waterfront development's amenities has begun according to the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).

A total of 4,700 square metres, allocated for eight restaurants and cafes overlooking Khalid Lagoon and the Musical Fountain, have been delivered to investors.

Marwan Bin Jasem Al Sarkal, Shurooq CEO, said the project's features are becoming clearly visible as the developers are working day and night to ensure that the first phase of the project opens during the fourth quarter of this year.

He added that a number of facilities and amenities have already been added to the project, and that construction work is nearing completion.

Numerous facilities

Al Sarkal revealed that all the facilities were fully leased several months ahead of the first phase's completion date. These facilities include a number of restaurants and cafes which will open in Sharjah for the first time. Interior decorating has also commenced, with the new tenants preparing to launch on time.

"We intended, through this project, to develop the retail sector in the emirate by attracting a range of selected international brands such as T.G.I Fridays, Fatburger, Cafe De Roma, Pizarro, Caribou and others. These brands will now open their first branches in Sharjah," Al Sarkal said.

He explained that the final plan for the Al Majaz Waterfront includes numerous facilities, which will make the development an integrated family park that will serve as a top destination for tourists and residents.

The project offers open areas designated specifically for children, areas set aside for cultural and entertainment activities, a mosque with a modern architectural design, special areas for walking, jogging and cycling, a sculpture garden, an arts area for children, a dancing fountain, public amenities and parking for 1,000 vehicles.

The Dh100 million Al Majaz Waterfront project is Shurooq's effort to encourage investment and tourism in Sharjah, and has been carried out with the aim of constructing a grand leisure park that complies with international standards in cooperation with Sharjah government departments and establishments, as well as international companies.

The project is spread over an area of 231,000 square feet with the first phase occupying 121,000 square feet and the second phase extending over 110,000 square feet.

The Al Majaz Waterfront is located in the heart of one of Sharjah's most popular areas, which is the location for a number of high-profile events, such as the Sharjah Ramadan Festival, Sharjah Water Festival and the Sharjah Lights Festival.
