Replicas of the world's 100 most famous diamonds plus designs by popular jewellery brand on exhibition. The Ramadan Diamond Pavilion at BurJuman Centre has an extensive and informative display on the evolution of diamonds from rock to ring, brought to Dubai by the Diamond Trading Company (DTC) in association with Damas. The DTC is better known to the public for its famous slogan, A Diamond is Forever.

The pavilion comprises three chambers and will run for three weeks, with a different theme every week. As one enters, a few men are seen busy working on a couple of machines at the live cutting and polishing display, where a rough diamond — not more attractive than a grain of sugar, is transformed miraculously into a shining star right in front of the beholder. The seven principal diamond cuts: the classic round brilliant, oval, heart, emerald cut, princess cut, marquise and pear — are being shown here.

Visitors can also see the complete mining process of the diamond portrayed on plasma screen. Complete information and interesting facts about diamonds are available on hand and one can also get advice on different aspects of the stone.

Also on display are the diamond jewellery collections of Damas including the popular Love Diamond, Princess Diamonds, Boudoor and the Bridal collection.

There are spectacular replicas of 100 most famous diamonds in the world. Including some of the oldest and most legendary cut stones of all time, the replicas give visitors a feel of the diamond in its natural and historical state.

On display is the copy of the world's biggest diamond, the Cullinan I. Also known as the great Star of Africa, this gem was cut from the largest rough stone ever extracted, weighing 3,106.00 carats.

The magnificent pear-shaped diamond now weighs 520.20 carats and is the famous centerpiece of the British Royal Sceptre.

The fascinating colour variations of the diamond are easily visible in the Black Amsterdam, an extraordinarily brilliant black, and the Brunswick Blue, a rich French blue colour. The Dresden Yellow demonstrates a marvellous golden-yellow hue and the Earth Star radiates a rich coffee-brown.

Replicas of Koh-i-Noor, Great Mogul, Golden Pelikan, Jubilee, Russian Table, Shah of Persia, Sierra Leone I, Star of South Africa, Swan and Taj-E-Mah are amongst the 100 on display. Each one has its own story behind it and has illuminated history's most fabled heroes and heroines.

According to Anan Fakhredinn, director of diamond promotion service for Gulf region, The Diamond Trading Company, "The Ramadan Diamond Pavilion is designed to inform visitors of the naturalness of the diamond and its journey from rock to ring. Diamond ambassadors will be on hand at the Pavilion to answer any questions visitors may have and to advise consumers on the purchase of diamonds."

"It is a special privilege for us to have worked with DTC in this project and we are indeed proud to have our diamonds on display together with the 100 most famous diamonds in the world," says Tawhid Abdullah, managing director of Damas.

"We take pride in bringing to the public our design which took us through an extensive research to make the owner proud and stand-out from the crowd," he added.
