Dubai: The leaders of the UAE, Egypt and Jordan highlighted the importance of finding a political horizon to return to two-state solution negotiations and called on Israel to stop all its practices that undermine the peace process, according to Al Arabiya.

This came in a joint statement that was issued after a tripartite summit that brought together His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Cairo on Sunday.

The statement underlined the need to restore calm and stop escalation in Jerusalem.

The leaders emphasised the importance of activating regional cooperation to handle food security and energy crises.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived on Sunday in Cairo on an official visit to Egypt. Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi welcomed Sheikh Mohamed and his delegation upon his arrival at the Cairo International airport.

Sheikh Mohamed is accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargath, Diplomatic Adviser to the President, Humaid Obaid Khalifa Abu Shabas, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority, and Mariam Khalifa Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador in Egypt.

The Egyptian President earlier received Jordan's King Abdullah II.
