The Sharjah satellite television channel is playing a leading role in promoting the national image worldwide with its educational, cultural, religious and social programmes.
Al Tayb Abdul Majid, an announcer and programme designer, said the channel's interest is in producing programmes that reflect Islamic and Arabic education and civilisation.
"The Sharjah satellite channel is more interested in local programmes because it is important to focus on local, social, educational, cultural and religious programmes that have relevance internationally. The channel is also interested in subjects that focus on producing news."
Abdul Majid added that the satellite channel is well-known for its children's programmes. "Children's programmes occupy a great part of the programming because the children are the future."
The staff members come from many Arab countries, "so there is already great cultural and educational communication between them. We hope that this communication will be the same in the Arab world. The team has members from Sudan, Egypt, Yemen, Algeria, Jordan, Morocco and Syria."
"The channel is also interested in producing programmes especially for Arab Muslim girls - programmes that will guide them to a real Islamic and well educated and developed life," Abdul Majid said. The channel also produces programmes in foreign languages.
