Sharjah: With the onset of winter, Sharjah Police have launched a comprehensive safety campaign to ensure a secure and enjoyable environment for visitors to desert areas. The initiative, which combines proactive enforcement, traffic management, and emergency readiness, is designed to safeguard public safety throughout the season.

The first line of defence

Captain Humaid Abdullah Al Hammadi, of Sharjah Police Traffic Department said Police have established checkpoints on key roads leading to the desert to ensure vehicles are ready for the unique challenges of off-road travel. Officers inspect vehicle readiness and monitor for risky behaviours, including illegal modifications and excessive noise.

“Safety is our priority. These checks help prevent accidents and ensure everyone enjoys the desert responsibly,” Captain Al Hammadi said

Keeping roads smooth and safe

To maintain order, Captain Al Hammadi said two police patrol units oversee traffic flow at main access points, assisted by strategically placed traffic cones. A tow truck is stationed on-site to remove any non-compliant or broken-down vehicle immediately, reducing the risk of obstructions and accidents.

Quick aid on-site

Captain Al Hammadi said a police ambulance is also deployed within the operational area to provide rapid medical response if needed. Having emergency services on hand ensures that visitors receive immediate care in critical situations, enhancing overall safety.

Public cooperation key to success

Sharjah Police emphasize that the initiative’s effectiveness depends on public cooperation. Visitors are urged to follow all safety guidelines and respect the instructions of on-site teams. Adherence ensures a smooth experience for everyone and allows safety teams to respond quickly to any incidents.

Our message is clear: your cooperation ensures a safe winter for all, and your adherence to safety guidelines helps us deliver the best services possible, said Captain Al Hammadi.
