Explore creativity and culture at House of Wisdom's summer camps
Sharjah: The House of Wisdom (HoW) in Sharjah is set to launch a new edition of its popular summer camps this July and August, offering children and teens a unique blend of storytelling, technology, and creative exploration.
Following a strong response last year, this year’s programme will feature three themed camps tailored to different age groups. Designed to combine learning and play, the camps aim to spark curiosity, build essential life skills, and foster cultural connection in fun, engaging ways.
Running from July 7 to 31, the Kalila wa Dimna camp invites children aged 6 to 12 to step into the world of the beloved Arabic fables. Through theatre, shadow plays, music, and puppetry, stories like The Lion and the Ox and The Monkey and the Turtle come alive in immersive, child-friendly formats.
“Our Arab heritage is full of powerful stories,” said Marwa Al Aqroubi, Executive Director of HoW. “By blending these narratives with modern tools, we help children connect with their roots in ways that feel fresh and accessible.”
Running alongside Kalila wa Dimna is Al Jazari FabLab, open to children and teens aged 6 to 15. This hands-on tech camp uses storytelling as a gateway to introduce participants to AI tools, design thinking, and rapid prototyping. Activities include coding with Arduino, crafting 3D-printed “Story Boxes,” and exploring ethical questions through science and art.
The FabLab’s mission is to blend creativity with technology, helping young minds develop systematic thinking and practical digital skills.
For ages 12 and up, the Youth Camp spans July and August and offers a holistic mix of workshops in art, innovation, and personal development. Key highlights include The Art of Qalam (Arabic calligraphy), Unleash Your Charisma (leadership and communication), and Focus to Achieve (mental clarity and goal-setting).
Campers will also explore baking, digital media creation in a dedicated AI Studio, and hands-on crafts to build both confidence and creativity.
“These camps are about more than just fun—they're about preparing a generation that can balance joy with knowledge, and heritage with innovation,” said Al Aqroubi. “We want to give children the tools to connect, collaborate, and thrive in today’s world.”
