Indian software major Satyam's Middle East operations have been showing the highest growth in revenue since it began operations, and the new Middle East Solutions Centre expects to sustain three-digit revenue growth for at least another couple of years, Chairman B. Ramalinga Raju said yesterday. He was speaking at the inauguration of the company's facility at Dubai Internet City. Satyam is the first of the top five Indian software companies to open in the complex.
According to Raju, revenue from its Indian operations is also set to grow 60 per cent in the just-concluded financial year, and that of the Nasdaq-listed Satyam Infoway has tripled. The Dubai facility will be Satyam's eighth development centre, the others being located in the U.S. (four) and one each in the UK, Japan and Singapore.
The office will cater to the Middle East market and offer comprehensive end-to-end IT solutions to existing and potential customers. "The setting up of the new centre reflects Satyam's confidence in the business opportunities that exist in this region. That our centre is located in DIC has added significance given the region's focus on e-governance and Internet-powered economy," Raju said.
Inaugurating the centre, Mohammed Al Gergawi, director-general of the Dubai Technology, E-Commerce and Media Free Zone Authority and chairman of DIC, said he was pleased to welcome Satyam Computer Services to the ever-growing community at Dubai Internet City.
DIC's strategy has always been to attract global technology leaders like Satyam that will partner the drive to ensure Dubai's pre-eminence as the new economy hub for the region, he added.
Satyam's 40 customers in this region represent transportation, manufacturing, financial and banking, telecom, government, energy and retail sectors. Companies on the list include Emirates airline, Mercator, Dubai Duty Free, NMTC, Masafi Mineral Water Co, MashreqBank, National Bank of Dubai, Al Futtaim, Aramco, Public Warehousing Co, Alba and Kuwait University.
In the 14 years since its incorporation, Satyam has become one of India's fastest growing IT companies with operations in 35 countries and a customer base of over 200 global corporations including 30 Fortune 500 companies.
