Those looking to set up Ramadan tents must meet the following criteria

With the increasing number of Ramadan tents being set up in various locations for different purposes, the Civil Defence has issued a number of safety precautions especially as such tents are often crowded with people.

Therefore, when applying for a licence to set up a tent, these are some of the requirements that parties must fulfil:

Ample room must be provided to tent users to ensure their safety

The tents must not be used for storage purposes

No heat producing devices such as heaters, ovens and stoves should be operated inside the tent

Internal lighting systems such as bulbs must be kept away from the tent’s fabric by a distance no less than 0.5 metres

Each air conditioning system must be provided with its own electric generator

All furniture must be double padded with fire resistant materials

Tents must be separated by a space of no less than four metres

At least 3 metres of space devoid of any flammable materials such as grass must surround each tent.
