Indian diplomat talks on correct modern values
The values in present day society has not deteriorated as people tend to believe, said K.C. Singh, the Indian Ambassador to the UAE, during a lecture organised by the Indian Ladies Association in Abu Dhabi last week.
Bemoaning the lack of values is a trait which goes back to the Greek and Roman poets, he said dryly. In the present day society, the youth have not lost their values and are indeed smarter and know what to get out of life. The most important thing today's parents can offer a child is good education to make them better citizens, Singh added.
Follow a central path and do not pursue a life of extremes, he advised youngsters in his talk on modern values in present day society.
The invasion of fast foods has also not affected the Indian youth, for example. They still prefer traditional delicacies to McDonalds, he said. The Internet revolution too did not have an adverse effect on the younger generation. Instead India is on the top in the field of information technology.
He said that international peace was becoming increasingly important in today's global village. Calling for unity across the board, he suggested that all the nations, for their own economic development and the well being of the people, should stand together as one voice in wiping out terrorism.
India should join like-minded peace loving countries like the UAE in standing up against terrorism and in evolving a value system while retaining its intrinsic identity, he concluded.
