Dubai: UAE residents now need Nol cards to enter main public parks in Dubai, according to Dubai Municipality officials.
Main public parks in Dubai, which take an entry fee from visitors, will no longer issue paper tickets to UAE residents, officials said.
Visitors need to purchase Nol cards, a smart payment system for Dubai’s public transport system, to pay entry fee at Zabeel Park, Al Mamzar Beach Park, Mushrif Park and Creek Park, officials in charge of ticketing confirmed to Gulf News on Monday.
Nol cards have been made mandatory after the implementation of the smart gates at these parks.
Residents from all the emirates are being asked to use Nol cards to enter these parks even though the smart card is being used only in Dubai.
Those who do not have the smart card are asked to purchase Nol cards of Dh25 denomination from the ticket counters.
An official said Dh6 is used for card activation and Dh19 balance can be used for paying the entry fee to the parks.
“If there is balance left after paying the entry fee, they can use it in future for park entry or for public transport.”
Only tourists who are visiting the city for a few days are exempted from this rule, said the official.
“But, if the tourists are coming with their relatives living in the UAE, we still ask them to get the Nol card as all UAE residents need to use Nol card to enter the parks now.”
The move is part of the civic body’s strategy to implement smart services and reduce the use of paper.
