Remedy likely to shift base to Dubai
Remedy, a BMC software group company, is likely to shift its base from the UK to Dubai, as part of its plans to expand its operations aggressively across the entire continent and the Middle East
"We are considering a regional headquarters for the region in Dubai," John Woods, territory manager, Middle East and Africa, told Gulf News.
In Africa, Remedy has identified E&M Solutions as their partners for its operations in Nigeria and is expected to make a formal announcement of this in South Africa very soon.
Woods said the company is planning to manage its operations in central and north Africa from South Africa.
BMC Software acquired Remedy during the last quarter of 2002 from Peregrine Software for $355 million. Eighty per cent of Remedy's clientele comprise Fortune 100 companies and 60 per cent Fortune 500 companies.
Remedy's IT Service Management suite includes Remedy Help Desk, Remedy Change Management, Remedy Asset Management and Remedy Service Level Management.
Wood said the acquisition of Remedy by BMC Software has not caused any significant changes in Remedy's functions. Remedy, which is well known for some of its products, has always been very cautious about its identity. In fact, this was precisely the reason why BMC Software decided to maintain Remedy's independent identity.
"Both Remedy and BMC have a range of products which are complementary to each other. This inbuilt flexibility in the combined portfolio of BMC and Remedy offers the best possible combinations to all the customers at the best possible price," said Wood.
"Remedy has identified a huge market for lower end IT solution products in the Middle East and African continent and has decided to focus more on this segment," he added.
In its primary survey, Remedy found that in most parts of the Middle East and Africa region small and medium size business people are looking for IT business solutions but affordability is the issue, said Wood.
Remedy, which is known for its services to corporate majors, will also offer solutions suitable for middle size and small size companies.
