Dubai: During Ramadan in Dubai, the entire community - officials, volunteers, children, people of determination - pulls together to serve iftar, the sunset meal to end the day’s fast, to people at mosques, motorists, pedestrians and others.
This outpouring of community spirit has been captured in a new video released today by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, which shared the 55-second clip on its Twitter account.
As dusk nears, the video shows, volunteers in different parts of Dubai start making iftar packs of fruits, soups, water, dates and other items. These are neatly arranged in perfect rows at grounds of mosques, which quickly fill up with worshippers who come to have iftar and offer the Maghrib prayer at sunset.
Meanwhile, volunteers from Dubai Police, Emirates Red Crescent and other entities arrive at traffic lights to gift iftar boxes to motorists so they too can end their fast on time. Children and women in wheelchairs join the effort, spreading joy to drivers, passengers, delivery bike riders and others.
Residents of different nationalities can be seen thanking the volunteers and wishing everyone ‘Ramadan Kareem’ as the video concludes with the captions, ‘Dubai... The Best City to Live In’ and ‘#Dubai_Ramadan’.
