51 beggars arrested in Ras Al Khaimah
Arrests made as part of the ‘Combat Begging and Help Those in Need’ campaign
Ras Al Khaimah: The Ras Al Khaimah Police have arrested 51 beggars as part of the “Combat Begging and Help Those in Need” campaign, launched by the Media and Public Relations Department in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department.
Since the beginning of Ramadan, authorities have arrested 34 men and 17 women in connection with begging.
Police officials highlighted that while Ramadan is a time of generosity and charitable giving, it also attracts individuals who exploit people’s goodwill. They urged residents to donate only through official charities and accredited institutions to ensure aid reaches those who genuinely need it.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about deceptive begging tactics used to manipulate emotions during Ramadan. Authorities warned that begging not only tarnishes the country’s image but is also often linked to criminal activities, including theft and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals.
Ras Al Khaimah Police urged the public to report beggars to the authorities by calling 901.
