Interior Ministry urges public not to share data amid rise in SMS scams

Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Interior has warned the public against scam messages impersonating the ministry, as scammers attempt to obtain personal information.
In a statement, the ministry said the messages falsely claim recipients have committed legal violations and urge them to follow urgent instructions under the threat of penalties or legal action.
Authorities stressed that these messages are not linked to the ministry in any way and are part of ongoing scam attempts targeting residents.

The ministry urged the public not to respond to such messages, avoid sharing personal or financial information, and refrain from clicking on suspicious links.
It also called on residents to rely solely on official communication channels for accurate information, as part of efforts to combat cyber fraud and protect individuals from digital scams.
