Dubai: More than 250 people accepted Islam through the Dar Al Ber Society programme last month and more conversions are expected in Ramadan.

Director of the Islamic information centre of Dar Al Ber, Rashid Al Janaibi, said that the converts were from different nationalities including Asians, Africans, Europeans and South Americans.

Dar Al Ber’s programme cooperates with a number of social institutions and conducts several conferences with the department of Islamic Affairs to ensure it caters to new converts.

The programme organises various celebrations and monthly meetings to award converts and familiarise them with Islam. These efforts include organising group Umrah trips.

Al Janaibi said that the number of new converts in the programme in the past year was 1,350. The number typically increases in Ramadan.

He added that the programme’s website has witnessed about 66,853 visitors from around the world and the programme tries to continuously connect with them and answer all their queries.

The programme also works on producing books and CDs that teach the principles of Islam and translates the meaning of the Quran in a simple way for new converts. It also organises courses to help converts learn Arabic, the daily prayers, and other acts of worship.
