Newspaper bags 44 awards from US-based Society for News Design

The year 2014 has seen Gulf News win 44 awards from the US-based Society for News Design (SND), along with accolades from The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-Ifra). At WAN-Ifra, the newspaper took home bronze for Best in Print, silver for Best in Overall Design and bronze again for Best in Front Page Design.
This places Gulf News among the top 10 winners, sharing space with newspapers like LA Times, National Post, The New York Times, and Washington Post, among other leading publications.
Winning design uses innovation and art to make editorial content informative, attractive and reader friendly. Gulf News has always believed in delivering high aesthetic quality across the board. A testament to this is the numerous design and print awards received annually.
The total number of winning entries at SND was 1,131. Six gold medals, 56 silver medals, seven special recognitions and 1,057 awards of excellence were given away.
This year, Gulf News won the highest number of SND awards in the newspaper’s history, and also received a silver medal. Only five other newspapers around the world have won as many prizes or more this year.
