Nearly 25% of world's cranes in Dubai

Dubai Dubai hosts nearly a quarter of the world's 125,000 construction cranes, according to organisers of Conmex, the exhibition for the construction machineries and equipment.

With an estimated 1.3 million population, the 30,000 cranes translate to one per 44 inhabitants in Dubai, marking it the closest ratio for construction crane per man. In 2003, the market for heavy construction machinery stood at $165 million and road construction machinery at $142 million.
