National Day Challenge Cup today

The UAE National Day Challenge Cup hockey tournament, featuring eight top teams, will be held at the Dubal ground today and tomorrow.

The tournament, organised by the Legal Sports Hockey Club and sponsored by Ravi Restaurant, is being held as part of the UAE National Day celebrations.

The tournament which will be an annual affair will be played on the league cum-knock out basis. The teams are divided into two groups.

The group A comprises Emarat Hockey Club, Sharjah Youngsters, Legal Sports Club and Dubai Republic Hockey Club while the Group B consists of Lacnor Club, GIP Club, Eagal Star and Dubal Club. UAE national Ahmed Al Sayegh will lead the Legal Sports Club.

The details of the tournament were announced at a press conference held yesterday. Those who attended the conference include Chaudary Abdul Hamid of sponsors Ravi Restaurant, M.A. Rajput, Mohammed Hasan, Yousuf Sultan and Safdar Cheema of the organising committee.

Attractive trophies will be presented to the top teams. Besides, prizes will be awarded to the best player of the tournament, best defender and top scorer.
