Minibus, car collide on Sharjah bridge, killing pedestrian

Sharjah: One pedestrian was killed on Wednesday and four others sustained serious to moderate injuries in a traffic accident.

The accident took place at 8am on Al Khalidiya Bridge along Al Arouba Street, which involved a minibus and a saloon vehicle.

According to Sharjah Police, the minibus in the right lane was speeding excessively while heading toward Dubai and suddenly veered to the left lane.

"The bus then collided with a vehicle that was heading in the same direction, and then hit five pedestrians who were walking on the side of the road," said a police official.

The Operations Control Room at Sharjah Police said that one of the pedestrians was killed immediately, and his body was transferred to Al Qasimi Hospital.

The other four injured pedestrians received medical attention at Kuwait Hospital.
