The anti-virus solutions provider McAfee Security has introduced its managed application services, which offer client companies round-the-clock protection from virus attacks.

It will offer virus and firewall protection, vulnerability assessment, and will be backed by McAfee's anti-virus emergency response team, one of the the largest virus research groups in the world.

McAfee has appointed SecureSynergy as its channel partner to provide the ASaP service to customers in the Middle East and other regions.

Round-the-clock firewall protection is done by monitoring network activity at home and in the office, with the added facility of customising individual firewall needs by offering on-site support.

"Using bandwidth-friendly Rumor technology, ASaP provides updates across the entire desktop infrastructure, eliminating the huge costs of managing and updating anti-virus software on one's own," said Javier Perea, regional channel manager, Network Associates.

"Our managed anti-virus services cover every possible point of virus entry, protecting important data from malicious attacks."

McAfee is a division of Network Associates, which has a regional office at Dubai Internet City.

"One of the several winning features of VirusScan ASaP is that it checks for a new anti-virus update at the point of every dial-up connection to a network, improving network security," added Perea.

"This is important where mobile employees often connect to the network throughout the day, posing a high risk as well as major problems for the management to keep their virus protection current."
