Man alleges wife ran him down after quarrel

Sharjah: Police are investigating a man’s claims that his wife — whom he admits to having an affair with before he married her — deliberately drove into him following an argument on Wednesday in Sharjah.

The Emirati husband, 29, told Gulf News his wife, also Emirati, 26, knocked him down as he crossed a street in the Al Rahmania area around 2pm.

The man, who was referred to a public hospital in Sharjah, appeared to have sustained moderate injuries.

“I was sent flying into the air, my whole body hurts. I will first file a case against her [his wife] and her family; then I will divorce her,” he said.

The man alleged that he got into an argument with his wife following which she left the scene in her car. “She made a U-turn to come back for me and hit me straight on even though I signalled her to stop.”

Witnesses called the ambulance services who took the man to Al Qasimi Hospital.

The man said he had married two months ago. “I had an affair with my wife before the marriage but we eventually got married as she bowed to pressure from her family.”
